<!-- ================================================================== MY COLOR COPIES — /color-copies/ COMPLETE REWRITE Built Aug 7, 2026. Replaces ALL body content on that page. ---------- WHY IT'S WRITTEN THIS WAY ---------- My recommendation was to 301 this page to your homepage, because a fourth "color copies" page competes with your money page no matter how well written it is. You'd rather keep it — fine, but then it has to do a DIFFERENT job, or you've kept the problem. So this is no longer a sales page. It's a how-to-order guide: sizes, paper stocks, sides, finishing, file prep. Different intent, different search terms, no competition with the homepage. WHAT I DELIBERATELY LEFT OUT: • All pricing. Prices live in exactly one place — your homepage. That's what caused this mess: two price lists drifting apart. This page links to pricing instead of repeating it, so it can never go stale again. • Every instance of "cheap", "affordable", "best price". Those belong to the homepage. This page doesn't compete for them. • "2024" and every year-stamped keyword variant. WHAT ELSE THIS FIXES FROM THE OLD PAGE: • The broken heading rendering as "color copies near mecolor copies near me" • Claims about UV varnish, satin varnish, aqueous coating, and eco-friendly printing — services I have no evidence you offer. All removed. If you DO offer them, add them back. • Weatherproof grommeted banners — same issue. • The "Source Links" block listing your own pages as sources • The outbound Wikipedia link • The stale $0.26 / $0.22 / $0.19 price table and $9 shipping ---------- SET THESE IN RANK MATH ---------- Title: How to Order Color Copies: Sizes, Paper & Finishing Options Meta: Choosing sizes, paper stock, single or double sided, and finishing for color copies. What to send, how to set up your file, and what each option is best for. Focus keyword: color copy printing options (NOT "color copies" — that belongs to your homepage) ---------- ONE THING TO VERIFY ---------- I describe your paper stocks from your published upgrade table. Check that the "best used for" descriptions match how you'd actually advise a customer — I inferred those. ================================================================== --> .mcxG-panel,.mcxG{ --panel: #F5F9FC; --panel-line:#E4EEF5; --brand: #2E7EBF; --head: #1B2A38; --body: #4A6478; --hair: #E3EAF0; } .mcxG-panel{background:var(--panel);border:1px solid var(--panel-line);border-radius:14px; padding:40px clamp(20px,4vw,48px);max-width:1180px;margin:0 auto 22px} .mcxG{font-family:inherit;color:var(--body);max-width:100%;margin:0 auto} .mcxG .mcxG-eyebrow{display:block;font-size:12.5px;font-weight:800;letter-spacing:.12em; text-transform:uppercase;color:var(--brand);margin:0 0 10px} .mcxG h1{font-size:clamp(28px,4vw,40px);line-height:1.15;margin:0 0 16px;font-weight:800; letter-spacing:-.02em;color:var(--head)} .mcxG h2{font-size:clamp(23px,3.2vw,31px);line-height:1.2;margin:0 0 14px;font-weight:800; letter-spacing:-.02em;color:var(--head)} .mcxG h3{font-size:clamp(17px,2.1vw,21px);margin:28px 0 10px;font-weight:750;color:var(--head)} .mcxG h4{color:var(--head)} .mcxG p{font-size:16.3px;line-height:1.7;margin:0 0 14px;color:var(--body)} .mcxG .mcxG-lede{font-size:17.3px} .mcxG strong{color:var(--head);font-weight:700} .mcxG a{color:var(--brand);font-weight:600} .mcxG ul.mcxG-dot{margin:10px 0 16px;padding:0;list-style:none} .mcxG ul.mcxG-dot li{position:relative;padding-left:28px;font-size:16px;line-height:1.62;margin:9px 0} .mcxG ul.mcxG-dot li:before{content:"2713";position:absolute;left:0;top:0;color:var(--brand); font-weight:800;font-size:15.5px;line-height:1.62} .mcxG .mcxG-note{background:#fff;border:1px solid var(--hair);border-left:3px solid var(--brand); padding:17px 22px;margin:22px 0;font-size:15.6px;line-height:1.68;border-radius:0 8px 8px 0} .mcxG-tablewrap{overflow-x:auto;-webkit-overflow-scrolling:touch;margin:18px 0 8px} .mcxG table{width:100%;min-width:540px;border-collapse:collapse;font-size:15.3px;background:#fff; border:1px solid var(--hair);border-radius:8px;overflow:hidden} .mcxG th{background:#fff;text-align:left;padding:14px;font-weight:800;font-size:12.3px; text-transform:uppercase;letter-spacing:.07em;color:var(--head);border-bottom:2px solid var(--brand)} .mcxG td{padding:12px 14px;border-bottom:1px solid #F0F4F8;vertical-align:top} .mcxG tbody tr:last-child td{border-bottom:none} .mcxG td:first-child{font-weight:650;color:var(--head);white-space:nowrap} .mcxG-cards{display:grid;grid-template-columns:repeat(auto-fit,minmax(270px,1fr));gap:18px;margin:22px 0} .mcxG-card{background:#fff;border:1px solid var(--hair);border-radius:8px;padding:20px 22px} .mcxG-card h4{margin:0 0 8px;font-size:16.5px;font-weight:750;line-height:1.3} .mcxG-card p{font-size:15.3px;line-height:1.62;margin:0} .mcxG .mcxG-cta{margin:26px 0 4px;display:flex;flex-wrap:wrap;gap:12px} .mcxG .mcxG-cta a{display:inline-block;padding:12px 28px;border-radius:999px;text-decoration:none; font-weight:700;font-size:14.5px} .mcxG .mcxG-cta a.mcxG-primary{background:var(--brand);color:#fff;border:1.5px solid var(--brand)} .mcxG .mcxG-cta a.mcxG-primary:hover{opacity:.87;color:#fff} .mcxG .mcxG-cta a.mcxG-ghost{background:#fff;border:1.5px solid var(--brand);color:var(--brand)} .mcxG .mcxG-cta a.mcxG-ghost:hover{background:var(--panel);color:var(--brand)} @media(max-width:600px){.mcxG table{font-size:14.2px}.mcxG th,.mcxG td{padding:10px}}
Ordering Guide

How to Order Color Copies: Sizes, Paper, and Finishing

Most color copy orders come down to four decisions: what size, one side or two, which paper, and whether it needs any finishing. This page explains each one so you can send us a clear order — or know what to ask when you request a quote.

If you already know what you need, skip ahead and upload your file. Current pricing for every quantity is on our pricing page.

Step One

Choosing a Size

Four sizes cover nearly everything we print. The finished size is what you should tell us — we'll handle how it's imposed on the press.

Size Dimensions Typically used for
Letter 8½″ × 11″ Handouts, packets, presentations, forms, flyers, church programs, price sheets. The default for most orders.
Legal 8½″ × 14″ Contracts, longer forms, spreadsheets and schedules that don't fit letter without shrinking the type.
Tabloid 11″ × 17″ Menus, large charts, event schedules, and anything folded down to letter size to make a four-page piece.
12 × 18 12″ × 18″ Oversized posters and signs, or letter-size pieces that need full bleed with room to trim.
Need something that isn't on this list? Custom trim sizes are usually possible — they're cut down from one of the sheets above. Tell us the finished dimensions when you request a quote and we'll tell you which sheet it comes from and what it costs.
Step Two

One Side or Two

Double-sided printing costs more per sheet than single-sided, but less than printing two separate sheets — and it halves the weight, which matters if you're mailing what we print.

Print single-sided when…

The piece is a one-page handout, a flyer meant to be posted or laid flat, or anything that will be written on. It's also the cheaper option when your content genuinely fits on one side.

Print double-sided when…

You have a front and a back — menu and prices, event details and a map, program and schedule. Also whenever you're mailing, since it cuts postage weight.

Setting up a double-sided file: send it as a single PDF with the pages in reading order — page 1 is the front, page 2 is the back. If your piece will be folded, tell us how, so we get the panels facing the right way.
Step Three

Choosing Paper

Our standard stock is 98-brightness 24lb and 28lb Hammermill Premium Laser Print, included in every order. It's a bright, clean sheet that handles full-color printing well and suits the large majority of jobs. Upgrades are worth it in specific situations rather than as a default.

Stock What it's like Worth it for
Standard 24lb / 28lb Bright white, smooth, ordinary paper weight Handouts, packets, forms, newsletters, church and school printing — most orders
80# Gloss Text Still paper weight, but with a sheen Photo-heavy flyers and brochures where you want colors to look richer
80# Matte Cover Cardstock. Rigid, non-reflective Menus, price sheets, anything handled repeatedly or that needs to stand up
100# Matte Cover Heavier cardstock, noticeably substantial Presentation covers, premium menus, pieces where the feel is part of the impression
80# / 100# Gloss Cover Cardstock with a glossy coated surface Photo-forward pieces on card — postcards, promotional handouts, product sheets
Label Stock Adhesive-backed Labels and stickers. Priced per job — ask for a quote
If you're unsure, say what the piece is for. "A menu that sits on the table" or "a handout for a booth" tells us more than a paper weight does, and we'll recommend the cheapest stock that does the job properly. Upgrade pricing is listed with our standard rates.
Step Four

Finishing Options

Anything beyond a flat printed sheet is finishing. Most orders don't need any — but when they do, it's worth having us do it rather than trying to trim or fold a few hundred pieces by hand.

  • Cutting — trimming to a finished size smaller than the press sheet, or cutting one sheet into multiples
  • Folding — half fold, letter fold, or z-fold for brochures, menus, and mailers
  • Saddle-stitching — folded and stapled through the spine, for booklets and programs up to a moderate page count
  • Comb binding — plastic comb through punched holes, for manuals and training packets that need to lie flat
  • Stapling — corner or edge, for multi-page handouts and packets
Tell us the finishing before we print, not after. Folding and binding change how a file needs to be imposed, and a booklet has to be built in multiples of four pages. Mentioning it up front avoids a reprint.

Current finishing rates are listed alongside our color copy pricing.

Before You Send It

Getting Your File Right

Most reprints come from file problems, not printing problems — and nearly all of them are avoidable.

Send a PDF where you can

PDF preserves your fonts, layout, and image quality. JPG and PNG work for image-based pieces. Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files can be printed but may reflow depending on the fonts installed on our end — export to PDF first if you're able.

Check your image resolution

Images that look sharp on screen are often too low-resolution for print. Photos pulled from a website, a phone screenshot, or a shared album are the usual culprits. Aim for 300 DPI at the size the image will actually print.

Include bleed if color runs to the edge

If a photo or background reaches the edge of the page, extend it about an eighth of an inch past the trim line. Without that margin, small shifts during cutting leave thin white slivers along the edge.

Keep important content away from the trim

Names, dates, phone numbers, and addresses sitting close to the edge can end up clipped or visibly off-center. Leave a quarter inch of breathing room inside the trim line.

Not sure whether your file is ready? Send it with your quote request. We'll check resolution, size, bleed, and margins and tell you in plain language what needs fixing — before anything prints and before you pay.
Ready When You Are

Send Us the Details

Include the file, quantity, finished size, single or double sided, paper preference, any finishing, and your deadline. The more of that you can tell us up front, the faster we can price it accurately.

Orders placed and paid by 11:00 AM Mountain Time, Monday through Friday, ship the same day. Questions before you order? Call or text (801) 491-6931.
